A couple on Grand Designs were left distraught as it was revealed that they’d been robbed of £5,000 worth of goods from their home.
In tomorrow’s episode of Grand Designs, presenter Kevin McCloud meets a couple in Northamptonshire as they attempt a bold conversion.
In the episode, Adam and Tassy convert a 20-metre-high Northamptonshire water tower into a fun family home with curved walls, slides, secret rooms, a firefighter’s pole, a swimming pool and a sky garden.
While the bold design is set to be an exciting watch, tragedy struck in the episode as the couple was left distraught when they became the victims of a robbery.
Surveillance footage in the episode showed that the couple were burgled during the renovation process.
‘We got robbed,’ said Tassy as she opened up about the ordeal.
‘So a lot of Adam’s tools got taken from inside the tower. He’s been extremely angry,’ she said
‘This is amateur hour,’ said Adam as he reviewed the CCTV footage taken that showed the burglary taking place.
Instead of hindering the couple after losing £5,000 worth of equipment, the couple was enraged and used their anger to fuel the progression of the project.
The footage showed that there were several thieves who covered their faces and identities with hoodies.
The episode showed that the group unsuccessfully attempted on a few occasions to break into the couple’s shed which had a padlock.
The programme has had a fair few moments that have shocked fans over the years, and earlier this month fans were stunned as influencers finished an impressive build which was branded a ‘Travelodge’ by some viewers.
‘From the outside tonight’s looks like a posh Travelodge,’ said Brian_The_Fish on X after watching the episode that focused on the unique design.
‘That’s a lovely looking travel tavern,’ added Peter Swann, while Aberquine agreed: ‘It looks like a Travelodge from the outside!’
