Rosie O’Donnell breaks her silence after daughter’s arrest for child neglect, shares photo from ‘better time’: ‘Not new for our family’

Rosie O’Donnell has spoken out following her daughter Chelsea Belle’s arrest for child neglect and drug possession.

Chelsea, who was adopted as a baby by the actress, was arrested last month in Wisconsin after police found drugs including a meth pipe near her 11-month-old son Atlas in her home.

Rosie, 62, released a statement on Instagram Saturday regarding her 27-year-old daughter’s legal troubles.

“Chelsea is in the news today – this is a photo from a better time,” Rosie wrote alongside a picture of Chelsea holding a newborn baby.

“Sadly this is not new for our family,” the former “The View” co-host continued. “Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for a decade – we r all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease #💔#love#alanon.”

Chelsea, who has four children, called cops last month following an apparent dispute with her boyfriend Jacob Nelund, according to InTouch.

Police arrived at Chelsea’s Amberg, Wis. home — marking the second time in weeks they’d been called there — and found her son Atlas in his room, allegedly near a box of hypodermic needles, along with a meth pipe in the home containing residue.

There was also evidence suggesting drug trafficking may have been occurring inside the house as a setup to cook meth was in place, according to the report.

Chelsea had 18 grams of meth on her, police said.

Chelsea was charged with four felony counts of maintaining a drug trafficking place, child neglect, possession of meth, and possession of THC, according to Marinette County court records reviewed by The Post.

She was booked on Sept. 10 and released on Sept. 24 on a $2,000 bail.

Then on Oct. 11, police pulled Chelsea over and arrested her when they allegedly found a meth pipe.

Cops also alleged that she had pills including Oxycodone, Morphine Sulfate pills and Hydrocodone stuffed into her bra.

Police charged her with three felonies, meth possession, bail jumping, and possession of narcotics, and two misdemeanors, resisting or obstructing an officer and drug paraphernalia. She is still in custody at Oconto County Jail, the court records confirm.

Chelsea will appear in court on Nov. 4 for the first case and on Nov. 7 for the second case.

Rosie and her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter adopted Chelsea when she was a baby, but Chelsea moved out in 2016 when she was 18, and went to Wisconsin to be close to her biological mother.

The comedian called Chelsea “mentally ill” to the Daily Mail in 2017.

“[She] has been in and out of hospitals most of her life. Born addicted to heroin. She has had a tough road. She is very sick. She is not capable of truth or reason,” Rosie added at the time.

But in 2018, Rosie revealed that the pair reconnected when Chelsea was pregnant with her first child.

“She’s doing better now and we’re both communicating with each other,” Rosie said on “The Talk” in Sept. 2018, per People.

“When somebody does something unforgivable to you and you can forgive them and they can forgive you, there’s a kind of grace that descends upon the both of you within that,” she added.

Rosie is mom to four other children: Parker, 29, Blake, 24, Vivienne, 21, and Dakota, 11.
