Olivia Nuzzi leaving New York magazine after 8 years amid RFK Jr. affair scandal

Olivia Nuzzi is leaving New York magazine after nearly eight years amid her affair scandal with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

“Ms. Nuzzi is gratified though not surprised that two different investigations have determined that her reporting on the 2024 campaign was sound and that she did nothing wrong,” her attorney said in a statement Monday, as shared via X (formerly Twitter) by Hollywood Reporter correspondent Lachlan Cartwright.

“For nearly eight years, she consistently produced critically celebrated and hugely popular journalism in her capacity as the Washington Correspondent for New York Magazine.”

The statement continued, “She is grateful for the editors, fact checkers, and artists with whom she worked and to the readers who have supported her with their time, subscriptions, and engagement.”

“She looks forward to the next chapter of her career,” the statement concluded.

New York magazine also provided its readers with a similar “update.”

“Last month, the magazine enlisted the law firm Davis Wright Tremaine to review Olivia Nuzzi’s work during the 2024 campaign. They reached the same conclusion as the magazine’s initial internal review of her published work, finding no inaccuracies nor evidence of bias,” the outlet explained.

“Nevertheless, the magazine and Nuzzi agreed that the best course forward is to part ways. Nuzzi is a uniquely talented writer and we have been proud to publish her work over her nearly eight years as our Washington Correspondent. We wish her the best.”

News broke on Sept. 20 that Kennedy, 70, was involved in an alleged “sexting” dalliance with New York magazine political reporter Nuzzi, 31.

Nuzzi wrote a profile on the former presidential candidate — who endorsed Donald Trump in August after dropping his own bid — that was published in November 2023. Sometime after that, the two began their alleged fling.

An insider told Page Six that the alleged secret lovers had “incredible” FaceTime sex and even said they loved each other.

Via his rep, however, the son of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of President John F. Kennedy — who is married to Cheryl Hines — denied the romance and told The Post he’d only met Nuzzi “once in his life for an interview she requested.”

A source close to Robert — also known as RFK Jr. — went on to claim that the Washington correspondent became “obsessed” with him after that meeting and “went after him aggressively,” even though he was allegedly “blocking her continually.”

However, a source close to Nuzzi — who admitted to her employer that she “engaged in a personal relationship” with the anti-vaccine advocate — denied these claims and insisted both parties would stop texting each other periodically due to the “high risk,” as she was engaged to now-ex-fiancé Ryan Lizza.

The journalist was then placed on leave so New York magazine could conduct “a more thorough third-party review,” given that her relationship with RFK Jr. was considered a “violation of the magazine standards around conflicts of interest and disclosures.”

Some close to Robert — who allegedly bragged to his inner circle about having “intimate” pictures of Nuzzi — implied that he might sue her.

Then earlier this month, three women claimed to Mediaite that they’ve had romantic relationships with RFK. Jr. within the last year.

The women reportedly met the environmental lawyer through his anti-vax group, Children’s Health Defense.

“This story is untrue,” his rep said in response. “Mr. Kennedy has had no romantic relationships with any woman other than his wife since their marriage.”

Robert — who notoriously had affairs during his previous unions with Emily Ruth Black and Mary Richardson — wed Hines in 2014.

Though the actress, 59, has remained tight-lipped about her spouse’s alleged misdeeds, she told Us Weekly over the weekend that she would be addressing the “rumors” that have plagued their marriage in an upcoming book.

“Lots of emotions with rumors!” she said while wearing her wedding ring, noting that she’s been taking “serious notes” for her tell-all.

Asked about the secret to a long-lasting marriage and moving past the “crazy” moments with RFK Jr., Hines explained, “There has to be a connection.”

The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star added that they “check in” and assure each other, “It’s going to be OK. We’re going to move through this moment.”
