Heroes, zeros from the Jets’ 37-15 loss to the Steelers on Sunday:
Hero
Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson, who was given his first start of the season in some controversy since they were 4-2 with Justin Fields, played a terrific game and made head coach Mike Tomlin look like a genius.
He completed 16 of 29 for 264 yards, 9.1-yards per attempt, with 2 TDs and no turnovers and a rating of 109.0.
Unsung hero
Steelers wide receiver George Pickens caught five passes for 111 yards and a TD, and could not be covered by anyone the Jets put on him — including top cornerback Sauce Gardner. It was a long night for the Jets secondary.
Zero
Aaron Rodgers was 24 of 39 for 276 yards with one TD and two INTs.
Rodgers flipped the momentum of the game with an INT thrown toward receiver Garrett Wilson with the Jets leading 15-6.
Key stat
40-15: The number of passing plays to runs the Jets ran on offense, which is not a recipe for success.
Quote
“If we accept that, then the season is lost. So, we’re not going there at all. We have high character room. We have the pieces capable of getting done.’’
