Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s actress wife Cheryl Hines revealed her trick to getting through “crazy” times in marriage and insisted she’s “feeling good” in her first interview weeks after it emerged her husband was romantically involved with political journalist Olivia Nuzzi.
Hines also said she has felt “lots of emotions with rumors” but didn’t directly address the swirling reports that her hubby, 70, and the 31-year-old New York magazine writer were engaged in a “sexting” tryst at The Groundlings 50th anniversary event Saturday.
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star discussed her marriage and dealing with RFK’s growing political profile while also revealing plans to write a tell-all book in two different interviews at the event.
“There has to be a connection,” Hines, 59, told US Weekly in Los Angeles.
“There’s, like, a connection that you look at your husband or your partner and all the crazy going on around you, or you look and you check in and it’s like, ‘OK. It’s going to be OK. We’re going to move through this moment.’
“And, you know, a lot of times it’s funny and you can lean over and say, ‘This is crazy balls,’ and have a moment together and then hold your head up high and go to the next thing.”
Hines also told the publication she recently is having “a lot of fun with [her] family,” and “if I had a boring family it would be tough.”
“And I think just trying to embrace the unknown and instead of fighting against it, is sort of trying to embrace it and just say yes to whatever comes your way,” said Hines, who has kids from a past marriage, as does Kennedy.
“Just to let it flow and to find the little moments and not take anything too seriously. Even though I find myself in very serious situations!”
The comments come as her relationship with the Kennedy scion is under scrutiny after he was accused of having a digital affair with Nuzzi, who profiled the then-independent candidate last November.
Nuzzi reportedly started sexting Kennedy following the story, including allegedly sending him “demure nudes.” The pair even had “incredible sex over FaceTime, a source told Page Six.
Kennedy has denied a fling with Nuzzi with his camp stating the two only saw each other in person once during an interview for the New York magazine piece.
When asked how she was doing, Hines said on Saturday during The Groundlings event, “Listen, I, I’m feeling good,” according to People.
She also said she was counting down the days until the presidential election was over.
“The end is near,” she said, per People. “And I feel very peaceful about it. 17 days, actually. But yeah, let’s say it’s 16. Every day, I Google it. You think I could remember from the day before. Every day, the countdown.”
After dropping out of the race for the White House, Kennedy has vocally backed former President Donald Trump against Vice President Kamala Harris.
Hines noted when she first met Kennedy a more than decade ago, he claimed he had no interest in politics.
“I was like, ‘Great. This is going to be great!’ And then life gives you a left turn, a right turn, however, it turns out to be,” she told the publication.
“People have a lot of feelings about politics, especially in Hollywood, and I don’t know. I mean, so far I feel like it’s OK,” she also said. “I’m OK to have conversations like that with people and, to me, it doesn’t define somebody.
Hines also said she was writing a book when addressing how the couple, who have been married since 2014, handles “rumors.”
“Lots of emotions with rumors! But, it will all be in my book,” Hines said. “I’m writing a book. I’ve been taking notes — serious notes!”
Kennedy and Hines have been spotted still wearing their wedding rings and were seen together last week at the Al Smith Dinner in New York City.
Meanwhile, Nuzzi is on leave from New York mag and in a legal battle with her ex-fiancé, Politico journalist Ryan Lizza.
Lizza and Nuzzi have lobbed accusations at each other after Nuzzi filed a no-contact order against Lizza, who is also on leave from his job during the personal turmoil.
