Man in his 30s fights for his life after assault in Longueuil

LONGUEUIL — A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being violently attacked overnight in Longueuil.

The attack occurred early morning Saturday around 3:45 a.m. on Grande Allée Blvd., near Langevin St., in the neighbourhood of St-Hubert.

Once emergency services arrived, “a man in his 30s was found on the ground, showing serious injuries,” said François Boucher, a spokesperson for the Service de police de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL). “The first observations demonstrate he was physically attacked by individuals who fled the scene before officers arrived.”

The man, who was known to police, was transported to hospital in critical condition.

“The nature and the circumstances of this attack are not yet specified. … No arrest has been made. The connection between the victim and the attackers has yet to be established,” Boucher said.

Security measures have been put in place to protect the crime scene for the purposes of the investigation. Grande Allée Blvd. is closed in the area of the crime scene for an indeterminate period.

The investigation by the SPAL is continuing.
