Richard Sherman puts Saints on blast for embarrassing first half: ‘Want to get their coach fired’

Richard Sherman was flabbergasted over how the Saints played in the first half of Thursday night’s 33-10 loss to the Broncos.

The Saints had only put three points on the board after the first two quarters of the game, with the field goal only coming in the closing minutes of the second.

Sherman, a former five-time Pro Bowler and now Prime Video analyst, couldn’t hold his surprise in about it all during the halftime show.

“I’m confused, I’m vexed, I’m perplexed, I don’t get it,” Sherman started off saying. “They don’t want to tackle. They don’t want to make plays. These are good players. Tyrann Mathieu is a good player. … I see guys not having effort to get to the ball carrier, to make tackles.

Richard Sherman was beside himself.

“I don’t understand this, it seems like they want to get their coach fired, That’s the effort they’re playing with. And Dennis Allen, you call a timeout so we can watch your quarterback take a knee. You want to torture these Saints fans. I mean, they’re going to be waiting at his car after the game.”

The second half didn’t get much better as the Broncos extended their lead to 26-3 with a field goal and touchdown in the third quarter and another TD in the fourth quarter before the Saints finally found the end zone in the final minutes of the game.

The Saints’ season has entirely flipped upside down after they won their first two games of the season only to drop four straight — and having to switch to rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler — heading into the Thursday night game with the Broncos.

New Orleans has been banged up this season, and it got more injury news on Thursday after receiver Rashid Shaheed reportedly underwent meniscus surgery on his knee

There is a four-to-six-month recovery timetable for a procedure of that nature.

The Saints have also been dealing with injuries to Derek Carr (oblique), Cesar Ruiz (knee), Taysom Hill (rib) and Pete Werner (hamstring).
