Class is back in session, and some familiar faces are joining in.
“Abbott Elementary” creator and star Quinta Brunson posted on Instagram earlier this month teasing which show will crossover with the sitcom during Season 4.
And Lisa Ann Walter couldn’t be more excited.
“’Sunny in Philadelphia,’” the actress exclusively told The Post at Warner Brothers’ Fall TV Season Celebration. “I can’t wait. I think it’s going to be unhinged. We did our side of it. We’re in the middle of doing it. We’re not done. And then I just got a script today for their side, but I haven’t read it yet.”
And Walters, 61, made it clear that there won’t be any recesses when it comes to comedy this season.
“Because we don’t film with an audience and we don’t film allowing for a laugh break, you really do have to watch it because during that, what would be a laugh break, are the other lines that are funny and really that’s what I can tease for this season,” explained the “Parent Trap” alum. “We’ve done six so far. We’re into seven now, and I know people probably say this, and it’s like, you’re promoting that, but it is the funniest season yet. It’s the funniest project I’ve ever worked on.”
And having her fellow co-stars, including Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Janelle James, William Stanford Davis, and Chris Perfetti, by her side makes work that much better.
“I can’t wait to get up in the morning and go to work because I know I’m going to have such a good time because I know everybody is firing on all cylinders,” Walters gushed. “All of my classmates are delivering. I’m having the time of my life. My game has been upped, upped this season. I’m doing well. I’m very funny.”
“I can see the difference. I’ve always known that I did a good job playing the character. I was proud of my work. But this is like a whole nother thing for me. I’m really just delighted every day, and it’s showing. My producers are telling me that, too. And Quinta. It’s so great. It’s nice to hear.”
And when school lets out for the day or summer break, the gang still gets together in their free time.
“We did do a nice dinner before Emmys weekend and that was really fun,” Walters shared. “And then we all got up fairly early and went home!”
The “Killers” actress also has some people in mind to bring on as staff members at the school — but is keeping tight-lipped about it.
“I have a whole list of people that I would love to be my family member since it’s now come out that Melissa has so many brothers and sisters,” Walters teased. “If I say it, Quinta won’t do it because that’s how she is. She just doesn’t want people to think that the way to get on the show is to ask to get on the show.”
But there are some actors she’d love to team up with for future projects.
“Cate Blanchett,” Walters said. “I love her. I would love to work with her. I’d love to work with Bill Hader. I love his acting. It’s really grounded and authentic, and he makes such wonderful choices. I just love his work. And Seth Rogen would be good, too.”
The star noted: “I’d like to work with Melissa McCarthy as well. I absolutely love her. She is somebody who makes me laugh out loud. Like bark laugh!”
