Nothing can come between this (Modern) Family.
Julie Bowen recently revealed the potential for the beloved Dunphy Pritchett crew to reunite for a “Modern Family” reunion.
“Yes,” Bowen exclusively told the New York Post when asked if she would be up for it. “Of course, I would be game. I can’t imagine any of us wouldn’t be. We’re stupid for each other.”
As for the possibility of it actually coming to fruition?
“I have no idea,” Bowen admitted. “You know, that’s up to [Steven] Levitan and [Christophoer] Lloyd in the end.”
These days, the “Totally Killer” star has her hands full playing a very different type of mom than Claire Dunphy on her upcoming Peacock thriller, “Hysteria!”
Bowen plays Linda Campbell, a mom and salon owner in a small town during the famous “Satanic Panic” of the late 1980s.
“It wasn’t the scariness of it that drew me [to the script] at all because, like I said, I’m easily scared. It was the idea of playing a mom who is not what she seems to be at all,” she shared. “I love Claire Dunphy and I got to play her for 11 years. But with Claire, it’s what you see is what you get. And that’s what’s delightful about her. Linda is one dark creature. She looks like she’s one thing, but by the end of this season, boy, you will be surprised.”
Bowen added, “So that was just a fun acting challenge and exciting to sort of subvert the expectations of me as an actress and, you know, to ask those questions about what does it mean to be in a bubble where you start believing crazy things?”
As for one behind-the-scenes moment from filming that has stuck with the JB Skrub founder?
“So there are so many fun things that happened,” Bowen recalled. “I would say that one of the things that people might not expect or know is that Noland North, for those of you who are new to Nolan North and I was new to Nolan North, he is one funny dude. And even after the most serious day of shooting, of the most awful, gruesome scenes, he could make me laugh until I cried. I’m so lucky to get another winning TV husband.”
But after filming such intense scenes, alongside co-stars Nolan North and Bruce Campbell, the actress needs to step faraway from her character.
“There’s literally box breathing,” Bowen confessed. “Like what the Navy SEALs do! You breathe in for three, hold for three, go off for six. I actually don’t know if that’s technically box, it might be more of like a rectangle, but it really helps calm you down after a day of freaking yourself out mentally.”
And the “Hubie Halloween” alum also has to “switch up” the content she consumes.
“I’ve got to put on something light or listen to a podcast,” Bowen stated. “I love history and history podcasts. I’ve got to step away from Linda at the end of the day.”
“I listen to a lady who reads stories. Stories where nothing much happens,” she continued. “It’s like a story about a walk on a fall day. And boy, your brain just goes into a gray zone, which is fine with me.”
All eight episodes of “Hysteria!” drop on Peacock on Oct. 18.
