An unlikely pair of A-listerswere spotted sharing an intense kiss on Wednesday in New York while filming their latest sports drama, Marty Supreme.
New photos have revealed a behind-the-scenes look at Gwyneth Paltrow, 52, and 28-year-old Timothee Chalamet’s upcoming film, and it looks as though things have taken a rather steamy turn.
Wearing a bright red vintage coat and blonde hair tied in a bun on top of her head, the Goop owner can be seen pushed up against a wall while Timothee, wearing a grey blazer and glasses, cups her face with his hand and kisses her.
Another photo from the set shows the actor, who is currently dating Kylie Jenner, kissing Gwyneth’s neck as she appears to cautiously check her surroundings.
It’s unclear what the status of the characters’ relationship is in the film, as plot details have been kept tightly under wraps. However, they appear to be fond of one another, with other snaps showing them walking off as Gwyneth delicately places a diamond necklace around the actor’s neck.
Gwyneth’s return to the big screen marks the end of her five-year acting hiatus, something she reportedly only agreed to because of Timothee himself.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, an inside source revealed that the actress, whose last role was in Avengers: Endgame in 2019, only signed on to Marty Supreme because her 20-year-old daughter, Apple, has a ‘crush’ on the Dune actor.
‘Gwyneth signed on to co-star with Timothee in Marty Supreme thanks to her daughter, who has had a crush on the Dune star for years,’ they said, claiming the actress was ‘convinced’ after a ‘pleading’ Apple discovered Timothee is acting and producing the film.
‘After reading it and loving it, despite having no major wish to act right now, she was convinced by Apple, who intends to be on set as much as possible.’
Apple is the daughter of Gwyneth and her ex-husband, Coldplay star Chris Martin. They also share an 18-year-old son, Moses.
The film, which is being produced by A24 and directed by Uncut Gems director Josh Sadie, draws on details from the life of American Table Tennis legend Marty Reisman, but according to Deadline, is a ‘fictionalised original, rather than a biopic.’
Marty, who died in 2012 at the age of 82, was known as The Needle and won multiple major table tennis titles, including the United States Open and the British Open.
His passion for the sport never faded, and as he grew older, he continued to have a strong presence in the tennis world. At age 67, he became the oldest player to win an open national competition in a racket sport.
When Marty died, he was the president of Table Tennis Nation and once described his career in the tennis world as ‘a funny way to spend a life’.
Marty Supreme has yet to receive a release date, but as filming is still taking place, it’s likely to be in 2026. Joining Gwyneth and Timothee in the film is Tyler, the Creator, marking his film debut.
