A car parked in the driveway of a residence in Dorval was the target of arsonists early Thursday.
Emergency services received calls around 3 a.m. reporting a vehicle on fire in the driveway of a residence on Terrasse Whitehead near Lakeshore Rd.
Montreal police said a preliminary investigation concluded at least one suspect set the car alight and fled. A gas container was found near the site.
Firefighters brought the flames under control but the vehicle was described by police as a total loss. There were no injuries reported in the incident and damage from the flames was confined to the vehicle and a second vehicle parked nearby that suffered minor damage, police said.
A perimeter was set up at the site of the blaze and the case is being investigated by the arson squad.
