The Guardians — and specifically Brayan Rocchio — had a moment to forget in the field on Tuesday night.
In the first inning of Game 2 of the ALCS at Yankee Stadium, Aaron Judge — up with runners on the corners — hit a routine pop-up on the infield that Rocchio, the Cleveland shortstop, appeared to camp under.
But with the ball sky-high, it seemed to get caught up in the wind, and Rocchio drifted and drifted to his left and toward the second base bag.
As it came down, Rocchio stepped in front of second baseman Andres Gimenez and just dropped the ball, with it bouncing off his glove and into the outfield.
Gleyber Torres scampered home from third as Juan Soto advanced to second and Judge reached safely on the gift to take a 1-0 lead.
Cleveland worked out of further trouble, though, as the Yankees could not tack on further.
The Yankees already lead the series 1-0.
