A woman was caught trying to sneak a “samurai sword” in her carry-on bag at New York City’s LaGuardia Airport, officials said.
The weapon was discovered when the woman, who has not been identified, was having her luggage screened before a flight on Monday, a spokesperson for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) told NBC News.
TSA officers swiftly contacted Port Authority Police, who confiscated the large blade.
The agency released a photo of the sword, which has an ornate black handle.
The woman was issued a summons for a court appearance later this year, the TSA spokesperson said.
The Post has reached out to the TSA and Port Authority Police for additional information.
