Travis Kelce was torn during his Yankee Stadium outing with Taylor Swift.
The star Chiefs tight end spoke briefly Wednesday about his highly publicized week off in New York, where he and girlfriend Taylor Swift enjoyed dinner dates and a trip to The Bronx for the Yankees’ Game 1 win over the Guardians in the ALCS.
“I’m in hostile territory cause it’s the Bronx Bombers and I’m at Yankee Stadium and the playoffs, and I’m over here cheering for the Guards cause I’m a Cleveland kid and I want to see Cleveland win a f–king World Series,” the Ohio native said on his “New Heights” podcast Wednesday morning.
“It was mixed feelings because I was there trying to have some fun with Tay and everybody, all our friends… came, we had an unbelievable crew with us and hanging with us, it was fun, even though the Guards couldn’t pull it off, it was still an exciting game, it was cool to see Yankee Stadium because I always wanted to see that thing in person, in a playoff game, in a hostile environment and it didn’t disappoint, man. The Yankees, the fans, the players, everybody involved man, it was awesome.”
The Yankees got the best of Travis’ team in The Bronx, taking Game 1, 5-2, behind home runs by Juan Soto and Giancarlo Stanton.
“I think it’s just the intensity, you know, you play all those, what is it, 162 games, for these moments and every single pitch matters,” Kelce said of the postseason atmosphere. “Every single pitch matters. A few got away from our first reliever there, unfortunately, and sure enough we weren’t able to bounce back from Yankees’ power, man, it’s, I’ll tell you what, man, when Stanton and Soto, when they get a hold of one man, it’s oh s–t that ball flies off the bat. It is impressive s–t.”
Kelce, 35, and Swift, 34, stepped out together last Friday when they dined at downtown hot spot The Corner Store with pals Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.
The couple dined at Italian eatery Torrisi the following day.
Kelce previously teased his bye-week plans on the Oct. 9 edition of “New Heights.”
When asked by brother Jason Kelce if he had bye week plans, Kelce responded, “No, but if any of it comes out I’m sure we’ll be talking about it on the show.”
Kelce’s big week began on Oct. 7 in Kansas City, where Swift watched his Chiefs top the Saints in a “Monday Night Football” clash at Arrowhead Stadium.
The All-Pro tight end had nine receptions for 70 yards in the 26-13 win.
Kelce, who continues to shake off what’s been a slow start to the year, is now preparing for a Super Bowl 2024 rematch against the 49ers in Week 7.
The three-time Super Bowl champion won his third championship with the Chiefs in February following their 25-22 overtime win against the Niners in Las Vegas.
Kelce celebrated on the field at Allegiant Stadium with Swift, who flew in following Eras Tour performances in Tokyo.
The 14-time Grammy winner will hit the stage in Miami this weekend when the Eras Tour resumes in North America.
Swift will perform three shows at Hard Rock Stadium starting Friday.
The billion-dollar tour, which first kicked off in Arizona in March 2023, will wrap in Vancouver, Canada, on Dec. 8.
The Chiefs (5-0) and 49ers (3-3) will kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET in San Francisco on Sunday.
