To face a second degree murder charge in death of 37-year-old man.

A 32-year-old man will face a charge of second degree murder Wednesday afternoon in connection with the stabbing death Saturday night of a 37-year-old man at the Guy-Concordia métro station.

Montreal police said the suspect was arrested Tuesday night in the borough of Montréal-Nord.

The arrest comes after a 911 call around 11:20 p.m. Saturday reported that a man had been stabbed on the métro station platform. The victim was taken to a hospital but later died of his injuries. The slaying was the 29th murder recorded this year on the island of Montreal.

Police noted that the victim and suspect knew each other.

Alain Vaillancourt, Montreal executive committee member responsible for public security, was quick to praise investigators for their speedy arrest, saying their devotion to keeping Montrealers safe is making the city more secure.
