Delta pausing flights through next year between NYC’s JFK and Tel Aviv amid escalating Middle East tensions

Delta extended its pause of flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Tel Aviv through March 31 because of the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East, the airline said Tuesday.

“Delta is continuously monitoring the evolving security environment and assessing our operations based on security guidance and intelligence reports and will communicate any updates as needed,” the carrier said in a statement.

“As always, the safety of customers and crew remains paramount. Customers should be prepared for possible adjustments to Delta’s TLV flight schedule, including additional cancellations on a rolling basis.”

Fighting in the region has ramped up in recent weeks as Israel takes on adversaries across the region, including its war against Hamas in Gaza after the terror group’s attack on Oct. 7, 2023.

Fighting in the region has ramped up in recent weeks as Israel takes on adversaries across the region, including its war against Hamas in Gaza after the terror group’s attack on Oct. 7, 2023.

The ongoing fighting, and possible threat of an even greater conflict, has caused international airlines to suspend flights to avoid affected airspace.

Hezbollah’s acting leader said on Tuesday the Lebanese terror group is focused on “hurting the enemy” by targeting parts of Israel, including Tel Aviv. The threat came after a deadly Israeli airstrike hit northern Lebanon, killing at least 22 people.

The Jewish state also continued its military campaign in Gaza against Hamas, killing at least 50 people across the Palestinian enclave, according to Gazan health officials.

Delta previously paused flights to Israel through Oct. 31 and then again through the end of the year.

The airline company called off flights following the Oct. 7 attack but resumed the JFK to Tel Aviv route on June 7 before the latest extended pause.

American Airlines temporarily suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv through March 29, and United Airlines said over the summer tat flights to the Israeli city are canceled until further notice.
