Sydney Sweeney looks unrecognizable with brown mullet as boxer Christy Martin on biopic set

Sydney Sweeney underwent a complete transformation for her role as Christy Martin in David Michôd’s upcoming biopic about the boxer.

The 27-year-old actress looked unrecognizable while shooting the yet-to-be-titled film in North Carolina over the weekend, rocking a shoulder-length mullet in lieu of her typical blond locks.

The “Anyone But You” star tied a blue bandana around the dark wig and hid her famous curves under baggy pants, a tan T-shirt and an oversized zip-up.

She completed the sporty outfit with a pair of white sneakers and seemingly went makeup-free for the day of shooting.

Sweeney’s wardrobe for the movie — which tells Martin’s life story — has been mainly ’90s sports attire, a far cry away from her typical sultry looks.

Martin, 56, rose to fame in the ’90s as one of the greatest female boxers in American history, quickly winning over the country with her charisma and talent.

However, behind closed doors, the athlete was dealing with personal demons and a very toxic relationship with her manager, and later husband, Jim Martin.

Jim viciously stabbed and shot Christy in 2010 but the fighter survived to tell her story, which she was thrilled landed in Sweeney’s lap.

“I think she is young, hot, talented and about to make a movie that in 20+ years, fathers will watch with their daughters to make them aware of domestic violence,” the former boxer told TMZ in May.

“I want this movie to bring awareness to domestic violence, the challenge of sexuality and overall underdog story,” she continued. “I am a coal miner’s daughter from a small town in southern West Virginia that made an impact in a sport that wasn’t taken seriously: women’s boxing.”

Christy said she was willing to help Sweeney with her training, specifically when it came to perfecting her left hook.

However, Sweeney already has a little experience in the ring, previously telling Dateline she “grappled and did kickboxing from 12-19 years old.”

“I’ve been itching to get back into the ring, train and transform my body,” she told the outlet after her casting was announced.

“Christy’s story isn’t a light one, it’s physically and emotionally demanding, there’s a lot of weight to carry. But I love challenging myself.”

Along with putting female boxing on the map, the “Euphoria” star noted that Christy also “overcame gender stereotypes, and fought through emotional, physical, and financial abuse.”

“I’m passionate about the fighting world, Christy’s story shines a light on her incredible rise to the top while showing the struggles of fame behind the curtains,” she continued. “I feel compelled to tell a story about a woman who faced so much adversity and didn’t allow it to defeat her. It’s powerful, and emotional.”
