Montreal man faces 15 charges in Ontario sex-trafficking case

Police say Wooldy Laguerre, 32, may have had other victims in Montreal or the Greater Toronto Area.

Toronto-area police say a Montreal man faces 15 criminal charges after he was arrested following an investigation into sex trafficking.

Peel Regional Police said in a statement Tuesday that one of the man’s alleged victims came forward earlier this month.

The woman alleged that the man had trafficked her to the Peel area and that “he exercised control over aspects of her life while profiting financially from it,” police said.

A second victim was identified during the investigation, according to police.

Wooldy Laguerre, 32, faces 15 charges, including two counts of trafficking persons, two counts of procuring by exercising control, assault with a weapon and uttering death threats.

Police say they believe Laguerre may have had other victims in Montreal or the Greater Toronto Area.

Laguerre, who has a criminal record, is currently awaiting trial in Montreal on a charge of assault causing bodily harm.
