Jamie Foxx felt “nothing but pure joy” as he returned to the stage following a health scare in early 2023.
Taking to Instagram early Monday, the multi-hyphenate shared a series of photos from his one-man show, “One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx,” which took place over the weekend in Atlanta.
“God is good…. As I post these pictures, my heart and my soul is filled with nothing but pure joy…on October 3 fourth and fifth I had an opportunity to tell my side of the story and there was no better place than Atlanta Georgia,” he wrote in his emotional post.
“I have to thank you Atlanta you showed up and you showed out, I haven’t been on stage in 18 years but I needed the stage and I needed an audience that was made up of nothing but pure love and that’s what you were.”
The “Django Unchained” star, 56, went on to explain that his performance was not a stand-up comedy show but “an artistic explanation of some thing [sic] that went terribly wrong.”
“But thanks to the great people in Atlanta especially piedmont hospital you enabled me to come back and be on stage and do what I love to do the most… #nobaddays as my guy James would say #secondchance ❤️❤️❤️🍑🍑🍑 thank you ATLANTA,” he concluded the post.
Along with his message, Foxx shared glimpses from the show where he could be seen wiping his eyes with the back of his hand, hugging an audience member and even sitting at a piano.
In one specific pic, the “Blame It” singer stood behind his 16-year-old daughter, Anelise, as she played the guitar on stage.
Foxx — whose real name is Eric Marlon Bishop — has slowly been returning to work since suffering a health crisis in April 2023.
At the time, his oldest daughter, Corrine, shared on her social media that her dad had “experienced a medical complication” the previous day but “due to quick action and great care, he [was] already on his way to recovery.”
A year later, in April 2024, Foxx told a group of people in downtown Phoenix that he was admitted to the hospital after taking Advil for a “bad headache.”
“I was gone for 20 days,” he explained before admitting that he does not “remember anything.”
Foxx has yet to reveal what exactly caused his health emergency.
However, he has returned to work as the host of “Beat Shazam” with Corrine and even walked her down the aisle when she married Joe Hooten last month.
