It may be months after Madame Webwas a catastrophic flop in cinemas – but the Marvel-based blockbuster’s roasting is not over yet.

When the action film was released in February, it was mauled by critics and branded ‘an embarrassing mess’ and ‘straight up stupid and senseless’ but is having somewhat of a second life on Netflix in the US and Now in the UK.

Madame Web’s main stars, Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney, who played Cassandra Web and Julia Cornwall respectively, also fired shots at the film.

During the promotional tour, Dakota, 35, made remarks about how rubbish it was and later fired her agents, while Sydney joked no one had seen it on SNL.

Sydney, 27, however, might have been wrong about that one as X user @mannyfidel confessed they had watched it on a flight but ‘couldn’t breathe’ after noticing a bonkers detail.

They shared a clip of a scene with Dakota as Cassandra struggling to open a Pepsi can then deciding instead to clutch onto it awkwardly while walking down the street.

It then jumps to another moment in Madame Web with Cassandra still holding on to the Pepsi, seemingly unsure what to do with it, as she chatted to XXX (Emma Roberts) in a house.

@mannyfidel exclaimed: ‘Eatching MADAME WEB on my flight, why won’t she open this Pepsi can I can’t breathe.’

@HeyNickE joked: ‘Who doesn’t carry around an emotional support Pepsi at bbqs tho.’

@AxDrake quipped: ‘Director: here, hold this can. Dakota: ok, how? Director: you know, like a normal person Dakota:….’

@Yunii_que said: ‘Reason #1028 that this movie is a comedy classic.’

Others came to Dakota’s defence, with @saoulidisg explaining: ‘It has to do with film shooting. You tell the actors not to use up the props until the good take but someone forgets or you have to use the earlier shot in the edit and these things slip past.’

@Biak1_ commented: ‘I’m going to defend this and say it’s unironically genius bc she’s a socially awkward person and there’s nothing more accurate than someone feeling weird at a party so they’re like lemme do smth with my hands and it results in this.’

The much-memed film centres on Dakota’s Cassandra Webb – a clairvoyant paramedic whose mum was in the Amazon researching spiders right before she died.

She must protect three young superpowered women, played by Sydney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O’Connor, from the menacing Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim),

On Rotten Tomatoes, Madame Webb has a score of 11% on the Tomatometer – the lowest of any major superhero film in the last 10 years.

However, it wasn’t a total box officer disaster – it pulled in $100million (£78.8million) at the box office against a production budget of around $80m (£63.1m) to $100m, just about breaking even.
