Calgary police seeking suspects in late-afternoon East Village shooting

After reviewing surveillance footage, police have identified two men and are seeking help in finding them

Calgary police are seeking the suspects involved in a late-afternoon shooting last week in the East Village.

At about 5:25 p.m. on Oct. 2, a dispute started between a group of people near the intersection of 5th Avenue and 4th Street S.E., an area close to the 5th Avenue flyover.

The injured victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital in critical condition, police said, though his condition was recently upgraded to stable.

Police believe the shooting was targeted, though CPS noted “it was a brazen display of violence that put many Calgarians at risk.”

After reviewing surveillance footage, police have identified two men and are seeking help in finding them.

“Addressing gun violence continues to be a priority for our Service. Through investigation, prevention, and enforcement activities we have co-ordinated our resources to reduce victimization and enhance community safety,” CPS said in a news release.
