Fabre and D’Iberville métro stations re-open after partial Blue Line shutdown

The Saint-Michel station, where evidence of deterioration on a concrete beam was found last week, remains closed until further notice.

The Fabre and D’Iberville métro stations on the Blue Line have re-opened to the public and are operational as of 10 a.m., the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) announced Wednesday morning.

The Fabre and D’Iberville métro stations were closed because the easternmost Saint-Michel station was, at the time,  the only point where métro trains could be shunted around to travel back west. However the STM said on Wednesday that it had managed to make modifications to its signal and control system to allow trains to be shunted onto westbound tracks at the D’Iberville station.

Meanwhile, the shuttle bus service will be maintained between D’Iberville and Saint-Michel stations.

The STM said engineering teams had collected data from the area of concern at the Saint-Michel station and were in the process of preparing a plan to carry out repair work. The transit authority said it would be able to provide a more detailed schedule for the station’s re-opening once it had more information.
