Jeep teases 2026 Compass, will come in gas, hybrid, and EV

The next-gen SUV will land in Europe next year, then North America the year after, reportedly with 4WD across the whole range

  • Jeep teases next-generation Compass SUV, replacing the current gen that debuted in 2016
  • The SUV will come in gas, hybrid, and all-electric variants, and with 4WD—at least in Europe
  • Because, oh, yeah, the Compass will debut in Europe in ’25; we won’t get it until the year after

This third-generation Compass will replace a second gen that launched in 2016 and that was heavily revised in 2021. The teaser from Jeep shows off styling that feels Grand Cherokee-inspired, with more pronounced shoulders and a lower side profile, especially in terms of the cantilever floating roof. Squared-off wheel openings connect strongly with Jeep’s rugged design ethos.

The multiplicity of available powertrains – as well as confirmation the whole Compass range will be available with 4WD – makes sense when you learn this will be the first Jeep built on Stellantis’ new STLA Medium platform, designed from the ground up to be EV-flexible. Exactly which gas or electric engines will come fitted in the Compass we’ll get in Canada in two years is pure speculation at this point, though.
