Dave Portnoy details sleepless night after crushing Steelers betting loss

Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers may be harmful to your health.

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy had a sleepless night after watching the Steelers allow a last-minute touchdown drive lose to the Cowboys at home, 20-17, despite winning the turnover battle 3-0.

“I want to die,” a depressed Portnoy said in a video posted to X.

“I will never bet big on the Steelers again. 3 turnovers and a blocked [field goal] and they still lose. You have to suck so bad to win turnover battle 3-0 and block a fg and still lose. Im so dumb. They suck and I’m dumb.”

The Steelers were favored going into the contest, coming in at -150 on Fanatics Sportsbook and closing as -2.5-point favorites.

Pittsburgh scored a touchdown with 4:56 remaining in the game to take a 17-13 lead, just to watch their defense get methodically dismantled by Dak Prescott and the Cowboys in the game’s final minutes.

Dallas probably should’ve been leading by much more throughout the game, though, as Prescott turned the ball over twice in the red zone.

“Pittsburgh has no business being only down 3,” Portnoy said with Dallas up, 13-10.

Portnoy has Justin Fields to blame for the poor effort on the offensive side of the ball.

Pittsburgh was out-gained 445-226 in the contest, as the ex-Bears first-round pick threw for 131 yards and two touchdowns on 27 pass attempts.

These stats are against a Cowboy defense that was missing two of their top players, Micah Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence.

The media mogul typically wagers big money, while Barstool Sports has a content agreement with DraftKings Sportsbook, which takes his sizeable action.

Betting on the NFL?

He did not mention how much he lost betting on the Steelers, but he typically wagers in the six figures on a single game.

Based on his reaction, though, it’s likely he lost a big wager even for him.
