Firearm discharge damages several vehicles in St-Michel

Police believe the incident may have taken place early Saturday night, when a conflict between several people possibly degenerated.

Several vehicles were damaged by bullets in the borough of Villeray—St-Michel—Parc-Extension in an incident that appears to have taken place Saturday evening, but was reported to police only on Sunday morning.

A 911 call was received at 9:50 a.m. Sunday concerning projectile impact on a vehicle on 7th Ave. in St-Michel, said Montreal police spokesperson Sabrina Gauthier. On arriving, police found damage caused by bullets on a vehicle and shell casings on the ground, she said.

During their investigation, they noticed several other vehicles had also been hit by projectiles. A perimeter was set up to protect the scene.

Based on witness reports, the police hypothesis is the incident may have taken place early Saturday night, when a conflict between several people possibly degenerated. However, no 911 call was received about gunshots.

Several elements remain to be determined and the investigation continues as officers try to establish a timeline of the incident, Gauthier said.

The canine unit and the forensic identification team were arrived Sunday to analyze the scene and the evidence as part of the investigation, she said.
