Can Martin St. Louis finally fix Canadiens’ power play? | HI/O Bonus

Former Habs Chris Nilan and Rick Green weigh in on a team that ranks dead-last in the NHL on the power play over the last 10 seasons.

If this Canadiens rebuild is going to eventually work they’re going to have to fix the power play.

While missing the playoffs in each of the last three seasons and finishing at or near the bottom of the overall NHL standings, the Canadiens’ power play has ranked 31st, 29th and 27th in the league.

But the Canadiens’ power-play problems go back much longer than that. Over the last 10 years combined, the Canadiens have the worst power in the NHL with a 17 per cent success rate.

Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis will take over control of the power play this season after Alex Burrows stepped down as an assistant coach during the off-season for what he and the team said were family reasons.

Can St. Louis finally fix the power play?

That’s the question former Canadiens’ Chris Nilan and Rick Green answer on this Hockey Inside/Out Show Bonus episode, along with Gazette sports columnist Stu Cowan.
