What does this unexpected Mets postseason run say about their future?

MILWAUKEE — It all came together, with the Mets squeaking into the playoffs in a season that was considered a reset year of sorts.

This Mets team, with president of baseball operations David Stearns’ fingerprints all over it, exceeded most expectations by winning 89 games. They became one of baseball’s fun stories.

Sustainability is another story, but maybe the Mets’ success this season changes the perception, at least in New York, about the manner in which a team needs to be constructed.
