Yankees will face Royals in ALDS after Orioles get swept out of playoffs

The Yankees now know who they’re facing in the ALDS — and it’s not their divisional rival.

The Bronx Bombers will face the Royals in the second round of the MLB postseason after Kansas City swept the Orioles in two games in the AL Wild Card Series.

The Royals, who won 1-0 in Game 1, came out victorious in another pitchers’ duel on Wednesday, holding on for a 2-1 win.

The Yankees were 5-2 against the Royals in the regular season.

The teams have met in the playoffs four times (1976-78 and 1980 ALCS), with the Yankees winning three of those series.
