Police searching for two suspects after daytime shooting in East Village

Calgary police are searching for two men after a daytime shooting in East Village on Wednesday afternoon.

At 5:30 p.m. officers were called to the 0 to 100 block of Dermot Baldwin Way S.E. for reports of a shooting. Officers believe a verbal fight happened between the victim and two men before the situation escalated and the victim was shot.

The victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition and has now been upgraded to stable condition.

The suspects fled the scene and it is thought that one of them was injured during the altercation.

This incident is not believed to be random as investigators believe the victim and suspects are known to one another.

Investigators are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage in relation to this incident to contact police. Police are looking for dashcam footage from anyone who was travelling on the Fifth Avenue Flyover or the Reconciliation Bridge between 5:20 and 6 p.m. and witnessed anything suspicious.
