Saskatoon and its people had some picture-worthy moments in September, from the return of the school year to a medal presentation and the annual Vetavision.

Sept. 4: A smooth back-to-school
Saskatoon police and parking enforcement kept traffic flowing and students safe as they arrived for the first day of school on Sept. 3 at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic School and Chief Whitecap School in Stonebridge. (Michelle Berg, Saskatoon StarPhoenix)
Sept. 5: One busy swimmer
Saskatoon’s Shelby Newkirk, competing in the 4×100-metre medley relay at the 2024 Paralympics, also placed fourth in women’s 50 m freestyle S6, raced in the 100 m women’s freestyle S7, and swam the women’s 100 m backstroke S6 on Sept. 7. Sept. 11: Royal recognition
Lt.-Gov. Russ Mirasty presented the King Charles III Coronation Medal to Mady Adamson, a 12-year-old fifth-generation grain farmer, at TCU Place. Adamson has gained a social media following by sharing videos from around her family’s farm. (Michelle Berg, Saskatoon StarPhoenix)
Sept. 21: Vet College open house is a hands-on event
Vetavision, the long-running open house at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, ran Sept. 20-21 on the University of Saskatchewan campus. Guests got to take in the fistulated cow demonstration, police canine unit demonstrations, falconry, bovine hoof trimming and a rehab demonstration.
