Man arrested after two recent stabbing attacks

The 24-year-old has been charged with aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, and failing to comply with a court order.

Saskatoon police have arrested one man in connection to two stabbing attacks in the city in September.

On Sept. 18, around 8:50 a.m., officers responded to a report that someone had been stabbed in the 100 block of Avenue T South, a previous police news release said.

Officers found an injured man suffering from a stab wound.

“He was treated by paramedics on scene and transported to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries,” the release said.

The suspect fled before officers arrived.

On Monday, around 11:55 p.m., officers responded to an injured person report in the 100 block of Avenue U South, a news release on Tuesday said.

When they arrived, they found a woman suffering from a stab wound.

“She was treated by paramedics and transported to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries,” the release said.

Police said Dakota Douglas Halkett, 24, was suspected in both stabbings.

On Saturday afternoon, police said they spotted their “wanted suspect” at a home on 22nd Street West.

They set up a perimeter around the building, and shortly before 3 p.m., made the arrest.
