Man charged after ATV death at Black Lake, Sask.

A 31-year-old Black Lake man was a passenger on an ATV died in a crash on Monday. RCMP arrested the 30-year-old driver.

Around 4:20 p.m., Black Lake RCMP responded to a report of an ATV-related injury on Highway 905 between Black Lake and Stony Rapids, Sask., RCMP said in a news release on Thursday.

Officers and local EMS arrived and found an injured passenger alone. He was taken to hospital, where he was later declared dead.

He has been identified as a 31-year-old man from Black Lake. His family has been notified.

After initial investigation, a 30-year-old Black Lake man who had been driving the ATV was arrested, the release said.

He is charged with dangerous driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death without a firearm, resisting/obstructing a peace officer and failure to stop after a crash resulting in death.

He is set to appear in court on Thursday.
