Ellen DeGeneres begged Sean “Diddy” Combs to attend one of her parties during an old episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
A February 2018 clip of DeGeneres, 66, and Combs, 54, on the comedian’s former talk show has resurfaced on social media following the rapper’s arrest for sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
During the interview, DeGeneres poked fun at Combs for being late to the show and questioned if he’d repeat that behavior at an upcoming party she was throwing.
“Are you gonna be early for my party?” DeGeneres asked.
“Yes I am — No,” Combs admitted.
“You know I have to arrive fashionably late,” the record executive added.
DeGeneres told Combs, “Not too late, though. Please.”
“What time would you like me there?” Combs asked the stand-up comic.
“I’ll tell you later,” DeGeneres said. “But not too late. ‘Cause, you know, once you get there the party really starts.”
“Yeah,” Combs replied, nodding his head in agreement.
“You know what I’m saying?” DeGeneres asked.
“I got you,” Combs said, adding, “I promise you I’m not gonna let you down on this big one, for real.”
DeGeneres then grabbed Combs’ pinky on his left hand, as the rapper told her, “Your feet are gonna have blisters. You’re gonna be dancing so hard.”
“I can’t wait,” DeGeneres replied, which made Combs laugh.
Fans commented on the TikTok of the old clip, reacting to the pair’s conversation about Combs’ party antics, which are central to the federal case against him.
“You can feel the tension in this conversation,” a person wrote.
“His whole demeanor and tone was different when he told her ‘I promise I’m not going to let you down,’” a second comment read.
Combs was arrested in New York City last week on federal charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.
The 14-page unsealed indictment claimed Combs held “Freak Off” parties where he would lure female victims into engaging in sexual acts with male sex workers, plying the women with illegal drugs and recording videos of the performances that could later be used for blackmail.
Over the years, Combs hosted other more publicized lavish gatherings, such as his star-studded Hamptons White Party.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Jennifer Lopez, Drake, Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian and more A-listers attended Combs’ parties — though there’s no evidence to suggest any of the stars knew about or participated in the “Freak Off” performances.
Since Combs’ arrest, many past interviews of the rapper have resurfaced.
In a 1999 “Entertainment Tonight” interview, Combs predicted his wild parties would “probably” land in jail.
“They won’t even give me a permit for the parties. And they don’t want me to throw the parties no more,” he said.
The “Last Night” singer added: “You’re going to hear about my parties. They gonna be shutting them down. They gonna probably be arresting me – doing all types of crazy things just because we want to have a good time.”
In a 2002 interview with Conan O’Brien, Combs joked about locking women inside his parties.
“A lot of ladies drink water at parties, so if you don’t have what they need, they’re going to leave. Got to keep them there, you need locks on the doors,” he said.
Combs is behind bars at a federal detention facility in Brooklyn while awaiting trial.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
