Life of man, 19, stabbed in Montreal is out of danger, police say

Two men, age 19 and 27, were detained by police and will be met by investigators.

The life of a 19-year-year-old man stabbed Saturday evening in Montreal is no longer in danger, police said.

The assault took place shortly before 7 p.m. on Arcand St., near Robert-Jurie St., in the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.

“According to initial reports, a conflict degenerated among a group of individuals and another man. When police arrived on the scene, they located the 19-year-old victim, “who had injuries to the upper body caused by a sharp object,” said Montreal police spokesperson Sabrina Gauthier later on Saturday evening.

Initially police feared for the victim’s life, but learned later on Saturday night he was out of danger.

Two men, age 19 and 27, were detained by police and will be met by investigators, Gauthier said.

A security perimeter was set up to protect the crime scene as investigators worked to try to understand the causes and circumstances of the event, she said, and the canine squad was there to analyze the scene and look for evidence. The security perimeter was lifted during the night Saturday.
