Who’s running in the upcoming Saskatchewan general election?

The following is a list of Saskatchewan constituencies — and the people running in them — ahead of the upcoming 2024 provincial election.

As the provincial election draws closer, many candidates have emerged for the 61 constituencies in Saskatchewan.

The Regina Leader-Post will be updating this list as more candidates are acclaimed in the lead-up to the vote, which takes place on or before Oct. 28.

The following serves as an overview of who is running, for which party and where. The descriptions are snapshots of the individuals and do not represent a thorough picture of them as candidates. All information is taken from party profiles posted online, where more information can be found.

Athabasca

Saskatchewan Party (SP): Jim Lemaigre was first elected in 2022. He is a member of the Clearwater River Dene Nation and a former RCMP officer.

NDP: Leroy Laliberte is originally from the northern village of Beauval and serves as community wellness manager for Flying Dust First Nation.

Batoche

SP: Darlene Rowden has been a volunteer with the Saskatchewan Party’s Batoche Constituency Association for 24 years and served as provincial director since 2011.

NDP: Trina Miller is a postal worker in the Batoche area, which she calls home, and has served as a board trustee with the Prairie Spirit School Division.

Saskatchewan United Party (SUP): Erin Nicole Spencer is an entrepreneur.

Green Party (GP): Hamish Graham owns a haskap orchard on the outskirts of Birch Hills and sits on the board of Ness Core Ventures.

Cannington

SP: Daryl Harrison was first elected in 2020. He has worked in the oil industry for more than 30 years and served as a councillor for his rural municipality.

Canora-Pelly

SP: Sean Wilson, a site/general manager with Venture Construction Inc., has served as the mayor of Buchanan in addition to roles as a councillor and deputy reeve for the RM of Buchanan.

NDP: Wynn Fedorchuk, who grew in the Canora-Pelly constituency, continues to live and work in the area. He’s employed in the mental health sector.

Carrot River Valley

SP: Terri Bromm has been a pharmacist for 25 years and served on the Tisdale town council.

SUP: Shauna Stanley Seymour spent nearly 20 years in marketing research and served on the board of directors for the Western Development Museum.

Cumberland

SP: Gregory Seib, a member of Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, is the education coordinator for the PBCN education authority.

NDP: Jordan McPhail was born and raised in La Ronge, where he served as town councillor for seven years as well as a chairperson for the regional fire department.

Cut Knife-Turtleford

SP: James Thorsteinson served as the Saskatchewan Party’s president from 2014 to 2023 and has experience in the agricultural sector.

SUP: Steve Gessner has worked in farming, heavy construction and transportation.

Cypress Hills

SP: Doug Steele was first elected in 2016 and is the deputy government whip. He has worked in the grain industry for 19 years.

NDP: Clare McNab, who’s Métis, is from Maple Creek. She worked for 27 years with the Canadian government as a community health nurse and a senior manager with Correctional Service Canada.

GP: Clayton Cave was previously the mayor of Tugaske and a jeweller using local material.

Dakota-Arm River

SP: Barret Kropf has more than 30 years of experience in the sports industry as a manager and a coach. He has a bachelor of arts degree in leadership from Trinity Western University.

NDP: Jordan Wiens, who holds a master’s degree in soil science and a bachelor of science in agronomy, works as an agrologist. He is involved in sports and music in his community.

SUP: Darren Ebenal is a full-time farmer, having previously worked in the oil and gas sector as well as the recreation director for the towns of Davidson and Biggar.

GP: Joseph Reynolds is an anti-poverty, anti-war and Indigenous rights activist.

Estevan-Big Muddy

SP: Lori Carr was first elected in 2016 and is currently the minister of highways, having served previously in other government roles. She spent 20 years as a licensed assistant in a financial planning office.

SUP: Andrew Cey manages a wood elevator handling organic grains.

GP: Billy Patterson is a tree planter and educator with experience in the renewable energy sector by way of selling and installing solar panels.

Humboldt-Watrous

SP: Racquel Hilbert is the founder of a drilling company who previously worked as a special educator for 20 years.

NDP: Kevin Fallis is a health-care worker and an SEIU-West member of 21 years, having previously served as a shop steward for the service employees’ union.

SUP: Carrie Ann Hradecki is a teacher and entrepreneur.

GP: Sharon Thibault has earned her 4th class power engineer certification and worked as a steam plant engineer.

Kelvington-Wadena

SP: Chris Beaudry was a member of the coaching staff with the SJHL’s Humboldt Broncos until 2018 and now works as a public speaker.

NDP: Lorne Schroeder owns and operates a mixed cattle and grain farm. He served as Reeve for the RM of Leroy, as well as a school board chair.

GP: Gillian Halyk is a massage therapist who previously worked with the provincial Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

Kindersley-Biggar

SP: Kim Gartner has worked as the chief administrative officer for the Town of Macklin. He’s a past president of the Urban Administrators Association of Saskatchewan and served as a school trustee.

SUP: Jason Zbeeshko has worked as a heavy-duty mechanic and on oil rigs.

GP: Darcy Robilliard is an occupational health and safety union steward.

Last Mountain-Touchwood

SP: Travis Keisig was elected in 2020 and served several years in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves with the 16 Medical Company. He later became a welder.

NDP: Thera Nordal is an entrepreneur who owns and operates a small business that serves the agriculture industry in Southey and area.

SUP: Gene Unruh worked in education and is a member of the board of directors for the local Credit Union.

Lloydminster

SP: Colleen Young was first elected in 2014 and currently serves as the minister of advanced education.

NDP: Adam Tremblay is a teacher focused on middle and high school in rural Saskatchewan.

GP: Patrick McNally has worked in building management, specialized renovations and janitorial services.

Lumsden-Morse

SP: Blaine McLeod was first elected in 2023. He has previously served on the board of SaskMilk and was the Saskatchewan director of Dairy Farmers of Canada.

NDP: Chauntel Baudu is a principal in the Prairie Valley School Division and an instructor at the University of Regina.

SUP: Jon Hromek is the leader of the Saskatchewan United Party. He has worked in the energy sector and managed oil exploration and production companies.

GP: Isaiah Hunter is a student at SaskPolytech in the computer automated systems technician program. He is the son of Saskatchewan Green Party Leader Naomi Hunter.

Martensville-Blairmore

SP: Jamie Martens is the deputy mayor of Martensville, having served on city council since 2012.

NDP: Tammy Pike works for the City of Martensville and serves as a union leader.

Meadow Lake

SP: Jeremy Harrison was first elected in 2007, having previously served as an MP. He is currently the minister of trade and export development, minister of immigration and career training, and minister responsible for Innovation Saskatchewan and Tourism Saskatchewan.

NDP: Miles Nachbaur works as executive director of Meadow Lake and area early childhood services. He is a volunteer and coach.

SUP: Denis Allchurch was first elected as a member of the Saskatchewan Party in 1999, losing the race for his constituency in 2011 to current premier Scott Moe.

Melfort

SP: Todd Goudy was first elected in 2018 and has held multiple roles, including education secretary. He was previously a chaplain for the RCMP as well as a trustee for the North East School Division.

GP: Tristan St. Germain currently works on farms and has experience in construction and as a wildfire firefighter.

Melville-Saltcoats

SP: Warren Kaeding was first elected in 2016. He has served on several committees and as the minister of environment, First Nations, Métis and northern affairs as well as rural and remote health.

NDP: Karen Hovind is a teacher working at Melville Comprehensive School, as well as an elected councillor with the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation. She was previously a town councillor.

Moose Jaw North

SP: Tim McLeod was first elected in 2020 and is currently the minister of mental and addictions, seniors and rural and remote health. He served his local Saskatchewan Party constituency association for 10 years, including three as president.

NDP: Cheantelle Fisher works at the Moose Jaw and District Food Bank, with previous experience as a support worker, community counsellor and labour advocate.

GP: Kimberly Epp is a conservationist and educator.

Moose Jaw Wakamow

SP: Megan Patterson is a business instructor at the Moose Jaw Saskatchewan Polytech campus. After working previously in Toronto, she returned to Saskatchewan and joined SaskPower as an energy advisor.

NDP: Melissa Patterson has worked at Casino Moose Jaw for two decades. She also serves her union as an assistant shop steward and is on the executive for her local.

Moosomin-Montmartre

SP: Kevin Weedmark is the editor, publisher, and owner of the World-Spectator newspaper based in Moosomin. He’s also president of the Moosomin Chamber of Commerce.

NDP: Chris Ball runs a mobile service truck for commercial tractor-trailers and farm implements. He has been a member of the volunteer fire department for 15 years.

SUP: Adam Erickson has worked as a project manager in the agricultural and energy industries.

GP: Remi Rheault is a self-employed developer applying an array of green technologies.

Prince Albert Carlton

SP: Kevin Kasun works with Canada Post and Correctional Service Canada. He previously worked in trucking before moving to the rail industry.

NDP: Carolyn Brost Strom is a registered nurse and educator with 20 years of experience in her field. She has served as a public health nurse with the Prince Albert Grand Council.

SUP: Denneil Carpenter runs a food truck, having previously worked in the oil and gas sector.

GP: Andrew Muirhead.

Prince Albert Northcote

SP: Alana Ross was first elected in 2020, having previously worked as a nurse and an instructor. She served as the Saskatchewan Party’s president for Prince Albert Northcote.

NDP: Nicole Rancourt was first elected in 2016, losing her seat in 2020. She is a social worker and a member of the Prince Albert Women’s Hall of Fame.

GP: Jarren Jones worked as an EMT and currently works at Prince Albert’s Co-operative Health Centre laboratory.

Regina Coronation Park

SP: Riaz Ahmad works with his brother at their family-owned pest control business, having previously studied accounting management.

NDP: Noor Burki was first elected in 2023 and serves as the NDP critic for immigration. He is a small business owner and driving instructor who teaches driving for schools and students.

GP: Maria Krznar has worked as a recreation worker in social inclusion for the City of Regina for the past 16 years.

Regina Douglas Park

SP: Ken Grey previously served as the leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan and worked as a bus operator for the Regina Paratransit System.

NDP: Nicole Sarauer was first elected in 2016 and currently serves as deputy leader of the Opposition and the opposition critic for justice. She previously worked as a lawyer, providing free legal representation to those in need.

GP: Victor Lau is a small business owner and deputy leader of the party.

Regina Elphinstone-Centre

SP: Caesar Khan is a local businessman in Regina.

NDP: Meara Conway was first elected in 2020, serving as deputy house leader as well as the Opposition critic for social services.

SUP: Pamela Carpenter is the owner and operator of The Bannock House, having previously worked as the food and beverage shift manager at Casino Regina.

GP: Jim Elliot has worked for several environmental conservation groups and community associations.

Regina Lakeview

SP: Sarah Wright has worked in academia, private industry and government in a public relations capacity for the past 20 years.

NDP: Carla Beck is the leader of the Saskatchewan NDP, first elected in 2016. She spent over 20 years working in human services, including as a social worker and as a manager at a local women’s shelter.

Regina Mount Royal

SP: Jaspreet Mander previously worked in the construction industry and as a truck driver. He now runs his own trucking business.

NDP: Trent Wotherspoon was first elected in 2007, having served as party leader in the past and currently as the Opposition critic for finances. He previously worked as a teacher in the city.

GP: Regina Demyen is an educational assistant.

Regina Northeast

SP: Rahul Singh is a territory manager with the Parkland Corporation.

NDP: Jacqueline Roy is a middle-years school teacher and former STF provincial councillor.

Regina Pasqua

SP: Muhummad Fiaz was first elected in 2016. Prior to politics, he worked as a road safety consultant for SGI. His family runs a jewellery business in Toronto.

NDP: Bhajan Brar was trained as an engineer and worked as a journeyperson electrician and a power engineer.

Regina Rochdale

SP: Laura Ross was first elected in 2007 and currently serves as the minister of parks, culture and sport as well as the minister responsible for the status of women. Prior to politics, she worked as a licensed realtor in Regina .

NDP: Joan Pratchler is a registered nurse who decided to become a health-care worker after spending decades working as a teacher and a principal.

Regina South Albert

SP: Khushdil Mehrok and his family manage an Indian Head motel and restaurant business that expanded to Regina, Saskatoon, and surrounding areas.

NDP: Aleana Young, a small-business owner, was first elected in 2020 and currently serves as the Opposition whip. She’s also the critic for economy and jobs, immigration, trade and export development.

Regina University

NDP: Sally Housser worked as deputy director of communications for the Manitoba government as well as politicians Jack Layton and Rachel Notley. She is a political commentator and has worked as a consultant.

Regina Walsh Acres

SP: Liaqat Ali operates his own company, having previously worked in various retail and customer service positions.

NDP: Jared Clarke was first elected in 2023 and currently serves as the opposition critic for environment. He worked as an elementary school teacher with Regina Public Schools for eight years.

Regina Wascana Plains

SP: Christine Tell was first elected in 2007 and currently serves as the minister of environment. She worked as a police officer in Regina and Saskatoon prior to entering politics.

NDP: Brent Blakley recently retired as a teacher after 35 years across several grades and schools. He has also coached multiple sports teams, including the Sheldon-Williams Spartans and Regina Riot.

SUP: Dustin Plett works in the Canadian tech sector and serves as a councillor in the Resort Village of Kannata Valley.

GP: Bo Chen is an entrepreneur and restaurant owner with 12 years experience as the proprietor of a travel agency.

Rosetown-Delisle

SP: Jim Reiter was first elected in 2007 and is currently the minister of energy and resources. Prior to politics, he served on the Rural Municipal Administrators’ Association, including as president.

NDP: Brenda Edel is the president of Barrier Free Saskatchewan, an organization that lobbies for accessibility legislation in the province.

Green Party: Sean Muirhead worked as a cook in restaurants in Rosetown for 28 years.

Rosthern-Shellbrook

SP: Scott Moe is the premier of Saskatchewan and leader of the Saskatchewan Party. He was first elected in 2011, having served in the past as the minister of environment, advanced education and others.

NDP: Mark Thunderchild of Thunderchild First Nation is a children’s author, Crown corporation technician and a community volunteer.

SUP: Cody Lockhart serves as a councillor for the RM of Canwood and works as a rancher.

Saskatchewan Rivers

SP: Eric Schmalz served as reeve for the RM of Prince Albert, having previously worked for 13 years as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He also worked as an auctioneer.

NDP: Doug Racine is a military veteran and a lawyer with 25 years of experience in criminal, civil and administrative law. He appeared at the highest levels of court in Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.

SUP: Nadine Wilson was first elected as a member of the Saskatchewan Party in 2007, going on to serve as the first SUP MLA after being removed from government caucus.

Saskatoon Centre

SP: Dale Hrynuik worked for the City of Saskatoon for 30 years. Trained as an electrician, he has worked as a project manager and superintendent in the facilities department, currently working for an electrical contractor firm.

NDP: Betty Nippi-Albright from Kinistin Saulteaux Nation was first elected in 2020. She’s currently Opposition critic for First Nations and Metis relations, Truth and Reconciliation, and also serves as the deputy caucus chair.

GP: Darry Michelle is a fourth-year education student at the University of Saskatchewan.

Saskatoon Chief Mistawasis

SP: Parminder Singh is a branch manager at Curo Canada, serves as Treasurer of the Sikh Temple (West) in Saskatoon and as a member-at-large for the Saskatchewan Party Martensville-Blairmore constituency association.

NDP: Don McBean is a retired teacher and public school administrator with experience across Canada.

GP: Shane Caellaigh is a line cook in Saskatoon.

Saskatoon Churchill-Wildwood

SP: Lisa Lambert was first elected in 2016 and currently serves as deputy whip. Prior to politics, she worked for CTV Saskatoon for 30 years.

NDP: Keith Jorgenson worked as an educator and administrator, helping kids with complex needs. He also operates Saskatchewan’s largest independent bakery.

Saskatoon Eastview

SP: Francis Kreiser recently retired from the oil and gas industry as as operator, having previously worked as a school teacher and administrator.

NDP: Matt Love was first elected in 2020 and currently serves as caucus chair and Opposition critic for education, seniors, and rural and remote health. Love worked for a decade as a teacher in Saskatoon.

SUP: Brad McAvoy worked as a police officer for more than a decade in Saskatoon.

GP: Kendra Anderson is an educational assistant for the public school system.

Saskatoon Fairview

SP: Zahid Sandhu practised law for over 12 years in Pakistan before moving to Saskatoon, where he worked several jobs in different sectors before starting his own business.

NDP: Vicki Mowat, first elected in 2017, serves as the deputy leader of the Opposition and as Opposition critic for health and mental health and addictions. She is a former lecturer and a retired captain of the 2293 and 3071 Army Cadet Corps.

GP: Phoenix Neault is an Indigenous two-spirit man working as a youth support worker at Prairie Harm Reduction.

Saskatoon Meewasin

SP: Maureen Alice Torr is the founder and director of Joy’s Centre Corporation, having started her career in public service as an international students coordinator at universities around Canada.

NDP: Nathaniel Teed was first elected in 2022 and currently serves as deputy whip, as well as the Opposition critic for SLGA, SaskGaming and SGI. He is a small business owner and the first openly gay MLA in Saskatchewan history.

GP: Jacklin Andrews previously worked in medical social work, mental health services administration, teaching and counselling.

Saskatoon Nutana

SP: Mumtaz Naseeb has a master’s degree in social work and status as a registered social worker. He is currently serving as the director of a centre in the Saskatoon core neighbourhood.

NDP: Erika Ritchie was first elected in 2020 and currently serves as the Opposition critic for municipal affairs, Water Security Agency, Crown Investments Corporation, SaskEnergy and Sask Water. Prior to politics, she worked as an environmental engineer.

GP: Whitney Greenleaf works as a welder and is a first-year steel fabricator.

Saskatoon Riversdale

SP: Olugbenga Fakoyejo works as a senior advisor with a major financial institute, holding certifications with the Canadian Securities Institute, the Investment Funds Institute of Canada, and the Corporate Finance Institute.

NDP: Kim Breckner is a lawyer currently working for a private practice specializing in corporate, employment, mining and renewable energy law. She is also the first female president of the Saskatchewan Drag Racing Association.

GP: Naomi Hunter is the Saskatchewan Green Party leader. She has run federally and provincially and is a business owner in Saskatoon.

Saskatoon Silverspring

SP: Paul Merriman was first elected in 2011, currently serving as deputy house leader as well as the minister of corrections, policing and public safety. Before entering politics, he was the executive director of the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.

NDP: Hugh Gordon is a small business owner who previously served for 24 years as a member of the RCMP, where he worked as a financial crime investigator in Saskatchewan.

Saskatoon Southeast

SP: John Owojori is a soil ecotoxicologist with a PhD. He has started and runs several businesses, including a driving school, a immigration consultancy, and a business consulting firm.

NDP: Brittney Senger is non-profit organizer, having worked at policy think-tanks like the Broadbent Institute as well as Equal Voice. She has volunteered with groups including Amnesty International.

SUP: Greg Brkich was first elected as a member of the Saskatchewan Party in 1999, having represented the constituency for 21 years. Before leaving politics in 2020, he served as government house leader, government deputy whip and deputy speaker.

GP: Mohammad Mansour Abusha’r holds a master’s degree in political studies, having moved to Canada from Palestine in 2010.

Saskatoon Stonebridge

SP: Bronwyn Eyre was first elected in 2016, currently serving as the minister of justice and Attorney General. Before politics, she was a radio broadcaster, columnist and lecturer.

NDP: Darcy Warrington is a teacher who worked the past 14 years in the Saskatoon Public School Division. He also the secretary for the Stonebridge Community Association.

Saskatoon University-Sutherland

SP: Ghislaine McLeod is the owner of Capital G Communications, an independent consulting company, with 25 years experience as a strategic advisor and business communicator. She has been president of the Saskatchewan Party Constituency Association for this constituency.

NDP: Tajinder Grewal is a scientist with roles at SGS Canada Inc., the University of Saskatchewan, the Saskatchewan Research Council and the Punjabi Cultural Association of Saskatchewan`

GP: Felipe Guerra is an entrepreneur and community advocate.

Saskatoon Westview

SP: David Buckingham was first elected in 2016 and currently serves as government caucus chair. He served as the mayor of Borden for two terms and previously worked as a commercial driver.

NDP: April ChiefCalf is an educator who worked for 19 years in La Ronge and for the Northern Teacher Education Program until it was dissolved in 2017. She now works at the University of Saskatchewan.

GP: Jupiter Neault has a certification in digital marketing management.

Saskatoon Willowgrove

SP: Ken Cheveldayoff was first elected in 2003 and has previously served in several cabinet positions, including minister of environment and minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority

NDP: Alana Wakula is a lawyer who founded her own practice and is a partner in a female-owned and operated law firm. She started her career as a lawyer with Legal Aid Saskatchewan.

SUP: William Hughes worked for four decades as a mechanical engineer in the mining industry.

Swift Current

SP: Everett Hindley was first elected in 2018 and currently serves as the minister of health. Prior to politics, he was the morning news announcer and news director for local radio stations in Swift Current.

NDP: Jay Kimball is an artist with 20 years of experience in the service, education, and public administration sectors. He has worked as a consultant for SK Arts and as a manager of LIVE Arts.

GP: George Watson is a psychosocial rehabilitation worker at Phoenix Residential Society.

The Battlefords

SP: Jeremy Cockrill was first elected in 2020 and currently serves as the minister of education. Prior to politics, he was involved in a family business in North Battleford.

NDP: Tom Kroczynski has worked as a teacher for the past 20 years and was awarded the Best Teacher of 2023 from the North West Best of the Best Awards.

Warman

SP: Terry Jenson was first elected in 2020 and currently serves as the minister of SaskBuilds and procurement. Prior to politics, he owned Clark’s Crossing Gazette, a community newspaper covering the Martensville-Warman area.

NDP: Erica Baerwald has worked for 20 years in conflict resolution, policy research, and program implementation. She also served as a town councillor for Hepburn.

Weyburn-Bengough

SP: Michael Weger is a lawyer with 15 years of experience, including eight years as the sole owner of his law firm. He has served as president of the Weyburn-Bengough Constituency Association.

SUP: Rose McInnes worked at the City of Weyburn treatment plant and went on to open a consulting business.

GP: North Hunter works at the Weyburn Hospital.

White City Qu’Appelle

SP: Brad Crassweller and his family own and operate Cedar Creek Gardens. He is currently a councillor for the RM of Sherwood (Division 1).

NDP: Grady Birns is a musician and a telecommunications specialist with over 25 years of experience.

Wood River

SP: David Marit was first elected in 2016 and currently serves as the minister of agriculture and minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation. He previously served as president of the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM).

NDP: Mike Topola is an advanced care paramedic working at Assiniboia Union Hospital. He has coached high school football and basketball at Assiniboia Composite High School.

SUP: Todd McIntyre, who worked in sales and management, also served on the board of directors for the Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce.

Yorkton

SP: David Chan has worked as a mental health counsellor for local First Nations. He has coached basketball and was a volunteer residential care worker.

NDP: Lenore Pinder has worked in Saskatchewan’s health-care sector for the past 20 years. She served as the director of her local Credit Union Board, and as a trustee for the Good Spirit School Division.

GP: Valerie Brooks is an educator and a co-chair with Fair Vote Canada.
