Police dog aids in arrest after chase on Saskatoon’s west side

A man was arrested after a car chase through Saskatoon’s west side ended with the help of a police dog on Wednesday night.

One man was arrested after trying to flee from police in Saskatoon’s Pleasant Hill neighbourhood on Wednesday night.

The vehicle had “previously been reported to have a stolen licence plate,” police said.

Officers tried a high-risk traffic stop, but the vehicle sped off, heading east. It stopped in an alley near Avenue H North and the driver fled on foot, the release said.

A police dog was sent out and succeeded in helping officers catch the suspect.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries related to the dog, the release stated.
