Dave Portnoy is already over these Patriots after brutal loss to Jets

It’s getting late early in New England.

At least according to Dave Portnoy.

The Barstool Sports founder and avid Patriots fan was not thrilled with the team’s performance on Thursday night against the rival Jets — which ended in a 24-3 Gang Green win at MetLife Stadium.

He even took things a step farther, saying that the Patriots are already looking like a team that will have one of the highest draft picks in the NFL come next April.

“Pats may lose this game by 1000,” he wrote on X before writing another pointed criticism of the team.

“And with the 1st pick in the 2025 NFL Draft the New England Patriots select Travis Hunter from Colorado,” he wrote in the follow-up.

It was an overall brutal day for the Patriots offense, and starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett took a beating, getting sacked five times in the loss.

When he wasn’t getting smothered by the Jets defense, Brissett completed just 12 of 18 passes for 98 yards.

Amid the rough night for the New England offense, which mustered a paltry 139 total yards, Portnoy said Brissett wasn’t getting enough money, likely because of the pressure he continually faced.

“Whatever we’re paying Jacoby Brissett its not enough,” he wrote in a follow-up on X.

Brissett was finally relieved by rookie Drake Maye, who made his NFL debut with a short stint in the fourth quarter.

Maye, the Patriots’ first-round pick in this year’s draft, completed four passes for 22 yards but was also sacked four times.

After a thrilling Week 1 win over the Bengals, the Patriots have now dropped two in a row.

The Jets, who snapped a 15-game losing streak to the Patriots in Week 18 last year, now have won two straight against their rivals.
