From now through October 20, the parade features 18 model homes, designed and constructed by SRHBA certified professional home builders. This year’s Parade of Homes extends through seven neighbourhoods in and around Saskatoon: Brighton, Brighton Ranch, Aspen Ridge, Rosewood, the Meadows, the Legends in Warman and Edgemont Park Estates in the R.M. of Corman Park.
“We designed this home to maximize views of the lake,” says Westridge president Regan Tameling, A.Sc.T. “You don’t find residential lots with these views very often. We ensured that most of the common spaces on both the main floor, as well as the owner’s suite and bonus room on the second floor, all capture views of the lake.”
Even the home office is designed to allow see-through views of the lake no matter where you are on the main floor.
Westridge registered interior designer Tara Lesmeister describes the home’s design as eclectic, combining old world charm with contemporary touches. “We wanted to make each space in the home feel like it was curated, bringing in classic touches along with modern elements — a mixture of old and new.”
The heart of this family-friendly home is its spacious kitchen. Shaker-style cabinets extend to the ceiling, complemented by soapstone-look quartz counters, a faux marble porcelain backsplash and a chef-style stainless steel range hood.
“The honey bronze cup-style drawer pulls and gallery rails were selected for their “old-world feel,” says Lesmeister.
The kitchen’s beautifully crafted maple island will be a favourite gathering spot for family and friends. “We designed the island with seating around one end, making this a true eat-in kitchen,” says Tameling.
An arched doorway leads to a spacious walk-in pantry with a prep counter. Across the hall is a large mudroom with built-in storage and bench seating.
Large format windows overlooking the landscaped back yard bring an abundance of natural light into the living room and dining area. An elegant step ceiling and picture frame wall moulding are classic touches and serve to define the space, while the porcelain tile-trimmed natural gas fireplace creates a cozy feel.
A grand open staircase leads to the second floor, which is a true family retreat. At the top of the stairs is a sunshine-filled bonus room, with large windows overlooking the lake. “From this vantage point, you don’t see the road — just the lake. It’s like you’re floating above the water,” says Tameling.
The spacious owner’s suite capitalizes on those same south-facing lake views. “We designed it so that when you’re relaxing in bed, you can look out the windows onto the lake and enjoy the water views,” says Lesmeister.
The luxurious ensuite features a custom tile walk-in shower with built-in bench seating, a standalone soaker tub and separate toilet room. The maple furniture-style vanity accommodates two sinks and is topped with a soapstone-look quartz counter.
The home’s future owners will revel in the big walk-in closet, with custom storage solutions including built-in drawers for jewellery and accessories.
The home’s second floor also includes what Tameling describes as a “kids’ zone,” with two children’s bedrooms and an adjacent four-piece bathroom. Both bedrooms have large windows and generous closets.
While the Westridge parade home is designed to dazzle, Tameling says that what you don’t see is even more impressive. “How the home is built, how it’s constructed — that’s even more important to us. We don’t ever compromise on how our homes are built.”
Established in Saskatoon 24 years ago, Westridge Homes has earned acclaim as a custom home builder. In recent years, Westridge has received 13 customer choice and service awards at the annual SRHBA Housing Excellence Awards.
“We don’t do too many show homes, as we’re primarily a custom builder and most of our sales come from client referrals,” says Tameling. “It’s been a while since we were part of the Parade of Homes and thought it was time to get out there again.”
“We have a lot to show!” says Lesmeister.
The 2024 Parade of Homes is open for viewing Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
