Video of former Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias’ domestic violence incident has emerged and it shows him taking a swing at his wife.
Urias, who was arrested last September on suspicion of felony domestic violence, can be seen charging at his wife outside BMO Stadium in Los Angeles after an LAFC game, video obtained by the Los Angeles Times shows.
The video from Sept. 3, 2023 then shows the 28-year-old shoving his wife into a fence before the two were separated, but Urias then threw a left hand at his wife before he was restrained.
A witness recorded the video, which was released by the California Highway Patrol.
In April, Urias was charged with five misdemeanors: one count of spousal battery, one count of false imprisonment, one count of assault and two counts of domestic battery involving a dating relationship.
He pleaded no contest in May to a misdemeanor domestic battery charge and was placed on 36 months probation while the other four charges were dismissed.
He was also ordered to complete 30 days of community labor and a 52-week domestic violence counseling course.
MLB placed Urias on administrative leave three days after the incident, and the left-hander went unsigned after his contract with the Dodgers expired.
The league hasn’t yet decided on a potential suspension for Urias.
“MLB is continuing to gather all the relevant evidence in our investigation,” a league spokesman told the LA Times on Wednesday.
If Urias is suspended, he’d become the first player banned twice under the league’s domestic violence policy; he received a 20-game suspension in 2019 after an incident at a shopping mall.
A member of the Dodgers’ 2020 World Series championship team, Urias went 20-3 with a 2.96 ERA in 2021 and went 17-7 with a 2.16 ERA in 2022, finishing third in the NL Cy Young voting.
He then went 11-8 with a 4.60 ERA last season.
