The only premiers to rank lower in the latest poll are Ontario’s Doug Ford and New Brunswick’s Blain Higgs.
He may have enjoyed an eight-point bump in popularity since the beginning of the year, but Quebec Premier François Legault remains among Canada’s least popular premiers. The latest survey result of 39 per cent places him eight points ahead of Ontario’s Doug Ford and nine points ahead of last-place Blain Higgs of New Brunswick, according Angus-Reid’s quarterly premier’s performance poll.
Manitoba’s Wab Kinew remains the country’s most popular premier, with an approval rating of 66 per cent. The extent of Kinew’s political honeymoon with the province’s electorate is underlined by the fact that the rating for second place drops precipitously: Alberta’s Danielle Smith and Andrew Furey of Newfoundland and Labrador tied for the second spot with a rating of 46 per cent.
The Angus Reid Institute conducted the online survey from Sept. 12-18 with a representative randomized sample of 3,985 Canadian adults who are members of Angus Reid Forum. The margin of error for the 641-respondent sampling from Quebec is four per cent.
