Motorcyclist nabbed doing more than twice the speed limit on Décarie Expressway

The St-Eustache resident received a $2,126 speeding ticket, 24 demerit points and had his driver’s licence suspended.

The Sûreté du Québec said Wednesday that highway patrol officers nabbed a 22-year-old motorcyclist travelling 185 km/h on southbound Highway 15 in Montreal, where the posted speed limit is 70 km/h.

The incident occurred at 5 a.m. Tuesday near the Jean-Talon exit of the Décarie Expressway. The rider, a resident of St-Eustache, received a $2,126 speeding ticket, 24 demerit points and saw his driver’s licence suspended for seven days.

The SQ is reminding motorists that speed is one of the main causes of fatal collisions in Quebec.
