The well-known minivan is also getting a new top trim, the Platinum, for this coming model year, which includes a FridgeBox
- 2025 Toyota Sienna gets advanced rear-seat reminders that will notify driver of movement in second and third rows, when they leave the vehicle
- There’s also a new top trim called the Platinum, which comes with a vacuum and FridgeBox
- On top of all that, there’s updated seats and a new console and dashboard for all trims
The biggest news comes in the form of new technology: the 2025 Toyota Sienna receives the brand’s new advanced rear-seat reminder — a global debut in the Sienna. The vehicle is able to scan the second and third rows for movement once the ignition is turned off and the driver’s door has been opened, closed, and locked — even in low-light situations. If it senses movement, it will start a series of warnings to alert the driver as follows:
- The hazard lights will flash and the door lock will chime;
- If movement continues to be detected, Toyota says approximately one-and-a-half minutes after the first warning the horn will go, off escalating the warning; and finally
- Approximately four minutes later, the vehicle can send a push notification to owners with the Toyota app, or a text to the number saved in the user’s account. It will then attempt to make an automated phone call.
All 2025 Toyota Sienna models come standard with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS 2.0), which includes pedestrian detection, cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high-beams, road-sign assist, and more.
What else is new for the 2025 model year Toyota Sienna?
The 2025 Toyota Sienna also gets a new top trim, the Platinum. It gets a head-up display, two-tone 18-inch wheels, and – wait for it – a new vacuum and FridgeBox to keep drinks and snacks cool, placed within reach of front- and second-row passengers! While 90% of me is wondering how much more all that will cost for a minivan that already isn’t selling big numbers, the other 10% of me is excited the Sienna is getting some fancy upgrades — yes, a vacuum is fancy.
The Limited and Platinum get a new centre console with a wood-grain finish, as well as standard leather-trimmed heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats, and heated second-row captain’s chairs. The upper trims also get the 12.3-inch touchscreen (the lower trims get an eight-inch screen) and a 12-speaker JBL audio system. There’s also a wireless phone charger and wireless connectivity to Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
The base LE gets fabric-trimmed seating for up to eight, with second- and third-row bench seating. The second-row bench seat has a stowable centre seat, while the third row has a 60/40 “Split & Stow” seat. Heated front seats and heated steering wheel are also standard. The XLE adds a power moonroof and four-zone climate control. Next up, the XSE gets a sport-tuned suspension, as well as that 12.3-inch touchscreen. If you want a little more without bumping up to the Limited trim, you can opt for the XSE Technology Package that adds the 12-speaker JBL system, a rear-seat entertainment system, and more.
Unchanged for the updated 2025 Toyota Sienna is its powertrain, a standard 2.5L four-cylinder hybrid unit paired to an eCVT, offered in FWD or AWD. The hybrid system delivers a total of 245 hp, while getting a combined fuel consumption of 6.6 L/100 km in FWD models; and 6.7 L/100 km on AWD Siennas.
How much is the 2025 Toyota Sienna in Canada?
The real question is: Has Toyota done enough with these updates to truly compete in the small minivan segment in Canada?
