Tiny Colorado town named one of the best in the US to visit this fall

A cozy town just outside of the skiing capital Aspen, Colo. was named one of the best to visit in the fall by HouseBeautiful, despite what its name suggests.

Snowmass Village, a quiet town in Pitkin County, boasts a humble 3,000 year-round residents. Like many towns near Aspen, it sees a tide of tourists staying there during the winter season and also includes its own winter resort.

What makes it so special in the fall, though, is the views created by the area’s thick foliage and natural landscapes, ranging from forests to canyons.

Sitting right below the Rocky Mountains, the entire town becomes engulfed in bright red, orange, and yellow-topped trees, practically smothering any green there could be. The sheer amount of fall foliage makes Snowmass Village look unrecognizable from the winter version many tourists see.

The town’s fall season is short-lived, but HouseBeauty notes that those who visit at just the right time will get to see the leaves change bit by bit.

Even without their winter season activities, Snowmass Village continues to offer diverse features for all, including hot springs, rivers, and a slew of hiking trails spanning over 3,000 acres of mountain ranges.

The town offers opportunities for the adventurous as well with an all-terrain vehicle, zip-lining, and white water rafting.

Snowmass Village is also home to some of the state’s best brews, with plenty of taverns and pubs nearby.

Snowmass Village came in at a humble 11th place on the HouseBeautiful ranking, beating out towns like Stowe, Vt. and Bristol, R.I.
