The Emmys signal the official kickoff of Moira Rose’s favorite season: awards. And while the ceremony was held twice in 2024 after last year’s show was delayed, the fashion on Sunday’s red carpet felt as fresh as ever.
Ahead, our picks for the night’s best-dressed celebrities, from Selena Gomez in sleek black velvet to Jennifer Aniston in embellished Oscar de la Renta.
Selena Gomez
The “Only Murders in the Building” nominee embodied elegance in a custom black velvet Ralph Lauren Collection halter gown with a dazzling pavé neckline.
She topped it off with Tiffany & Co. jewels, including cascading diamond earrings, a Tiffany Lock bangle set with sparkling baguettes and a Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany engagement ring (worn on her pointer finger, to be clear!).
Jennifer Aniston
Speaking of black dresses, they’re typically the “Morning Show” actress’ red carpet uniform — so we were delighted to see her switch it up with this daring (for her) silver scalloped style embellished with crystals and pearls and designed by Oscar de la Renta.
A few well-placed pieces from the Tiffany & Co. archives, among them a pair of 1950s earrings and an Art Deco-style diamond bracelet, were the proverbial icing on the cake.
Ayo Edebiri
While the star of “The Bear” often opts for suiting or more muted looks in neutral tones, we thought this sequined and printed Bottega Veneta gown was a great fit for her playful personality.
Brie Larson
The “Lessons in Chemistry” star brought a bit of 1960s fashion flair to the Emmys with this beautiful petticoated peplum dress from Chanel Haute Couture, which was covered with crystal embellishments, tied with a black satin bow and accented with Chanel jewels.
Ella Purnell
The “Fallout” beauty looked ready to hit Studio 54 in her silver chainmail Rabanne dress paired with De Beers diamonds — including a stunning set of five-line diamond drop earrings that stood out against her disco curls.
Aja Naomi King
This pale pink Giambattista Valli Haute Couture confection was a perfect choice for Larson’s “Lesson in Chemistry” co-star, who’s been one of our favorites to watch on the red carpet for the past few years.
A glittering Buccellati collar necklace and Aleví Milano sandals completed King’s look.
Kristen Wiig
The “SNL” icon’s woven metallic Oscar de la Renta dress was a feat of fashion craftsmanship, and we loved the sleek Chopard necklace and studs she paired it with. Her razor-sharp bob and bronzed glow, however, might’ve been the best accessories here.
Anna Sawai
The “Shōgun” nominee looked regal and ravishing in red strapless Vera Wang. Her sleek, center-parted bun matched the gown’s clean lines — as did those delicate Cartier drop earrings set with diamonds, rubies and black onyx.
Eiza González
“3 Body Problem” star Gonzalez made a glamorous entrance in a pink sequined Tamara Ralph Couture column gown topped with a matching feather coat. She smartly kept the rest of her look simple, opting for star-shaped David Yurman hoop earrings and just a hint of rosy makeup.
Dan Levy
Proving the “napkincore” trend‘s still going strong — and needn’t be reserved for the ladies — the Emmys co-host looked dapper as ever in his Loewe look.
Matt Bomer
The “Fellow Travelers” star never puts a foot wrong on the step-and-repeat, and this two-toned Brioni teamed with an Omega timepiece hit all the right notes.
Jonathan Bailey
His co-star and fellow nominee, however, might’ve been having the most fun of any man on the Emmys carpet in unbuttoned-down-to-there Giorgio Armani punctuated with a De Beers diamond brooch and Omega watch.
