Too many great chocolate bars have been taken from us over the years — from Mars Delights to the Snow Flake, and more recently the Animal Bar.
Brands often make big changes to their product ranges, depending on sales and various other factors, and while they might have their reasons, many people won’t hesitate to hold a grudge over the loss of their favourite sweets.
Take for instance, White Chocolate Maltesers.
The white chocolate version of the iconic chocolate was launched in 2003 and was enjoyed until 2014 when low sales prompted Mars to axe the sweet treat.
And despite the 10 years that have gone by since these were discontinued, fans are still begging Mars Wrigley to bring them back.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), @colepalmerss said: ‘As a society we need White Chocolate Maltesers back imo.’
Similarly, @Amberdaly_x wrote: ‘White Chocolate Maltesers, I will avenge you.’ While @faemass posted: ‘They just need to bring the White Maltesers back. It’s time.’
In another comment, they continued: ‘Whoever made the financial decision to discontinue White Chocolate Maltesers is my eternal arch-nemesis.’
And @eds_afterglow added: ‘They need to bring the White Maltesers back, world went downhill when these disappeared.’
Others said the chocolate had been a ‘top tier’ option and that it being discontinued was their ‘Roman Empire’.
Those hoping to see the malt treat return to supermarkets might want to keep their eyes peeled just in case, as it seems Mars Wrigley has been teasing a big comeback for old favourites happening soon.
A spokesperson for Mars Wrigley recently told Sky News: ‘We’re always listening to the fans of our chocolate and fruity treats, which is why we’re constantly innovating our ranges.
‘Whilst White Chocolate Maltesers aren’t currently on shelves, we’re pleased to offer many delicious alternatives such as M&M’s and of course, our original Maltesers.
‘We’ve always got an ear to the ground and recognise the enduring love for old favourites, so stay tuned for some epic comebacks that could be happening soon… Watch this space!’
It’s not clear what exactly the brand will be relaunching, but we’re excited to see what happens next.
This comes after Cadbury shoppers recently found a ‘ridiculously good’ twist on a discontinued chocolate.
Customers at are going wild over Cadbury Dairy Milk Rolls, which are imported from and look a lot like Rolos — but instead of having a caramel filling, they are made of solid chocolate.
For many, these sweets, which cost £1.25 a pack, remind them of Cadbury Chocos, which were available in the UK in the early 2010s.
Much like the rolls, Chocos were solid milk chocolate pieces, sold in a tube-shaped packet. They first launched in 2011, but sadly were discontinued and haven’t been made by Cadbury in years.
Fans of the retro sweets branded them ‘addictive’, ‘ridiculously good’ and ‘awesome’ in posts on X (formerly Twitter) when they first launched, and it seems more than a decade later there are still plenty of people who would love to get their hands on them again.
And the team at Metro.co.uk recently gave the Cadbury Rolls a go, as well as several other rare chocolates from B&M.
Our verdict was that the Australian chocolates were ‘night enough but a little dull’. This is because Aussie Dairy Milk doesn’t quite live up to our UK version. It’s not as creamy, and doesn’t seem like there’s a glass and a half in these.
Other treats we tried included Mars Pods which were hailed a ‘delight’, and Caramilk Crunchie Bites, which were ‘excessively sweet’ but not quite what we expected.
