BBC newsreader Karin Giannone has finally ‘properly’ married her co-star in an intimate ceremony.

The 50-year-old BBC News presenter and her news director partner Nick Buckley first tied the knot in California during a trip in 2022.

However, the initial ceremony wasn’t actually legal in the UK – but now they have made their nuptials official in front of their love ones over the weekend.

She shared a behind the scene look at their big day on social media, with a joyous photo of the happy couple.

Nick looks dapper in a blue suit and gold tie, while Karin stunned in a sleeved lace wedding dress, with her blonde hair styled up in a relaxed ‘do.

In the picture, they are both beaming and laughing on the alter.

‘Our wedding blessing,’ the former Sky News broadcaster wrote on Instagram alongside the photo with a string of wedding themed emojis. ‘One of the loveliest days of my life.’

She shared the same photo on X with a heart emoji, and added: ‘Properly married now.’

The couple started dating back in 2019, before heading to the United States years later to tie the knot.

Last month, Karin returned to the BBC after taking legal action against her employer.

She previously alleged, along with other senior female BBC journalists Martine Croxall, Kasia Mader and Annita McVeigh that they were kept off air for a year after they were snubbed for chief presenter roles following the merger of the BBC’s News and World News channels.

However, after a preliminary employment tribunal and being reportedly ‘forced to reapply for her job’ after they were scrapped due to cost-cutting measures, Karin made her BBC comeback.

She is the final of the four journalists involved in the legal proceedings to return to the station after taking time off to recover from a knee osteotomy operation.

Returning to screens, Karin celebrated her return almost two weeks ago as she wrote on social media: ‘Felt good to be back on air @BBCNews. Plenty more to come…’

On X, Martine celebrated Karin’s reinstation at the channel, writing: ‘@KarinBBC makes five! Back on air and bossing it. La classe non è acqua x.’

Karin started working for the BBC in January 2005, while she became a permanent staff member just over three years later, and has been a chief presenter on BBC World News and the BBC News Channel.
