More than £86,000,000 in Premium Bonds prizes remain unclaimed, according to data from National Savings and Investments.

Draws are held at the start of each month for prizes worth up to £100,000.

But some 2.4million of these are still up for grabs, financial advice website This is Money said.

Holders and customers are being urged to check if they’re the winner of one of these, six of which are worth £100,000, while 10 of them are £50,000.

Alone, these 16 prizes added up to £1million.

Two of the £100,000 prizes have remained unclaimed for more than a decade, having been drawn in February 2007.

One of those had a holding of just £6 at the time.

They were based overseas.

One of the top prizes was drawn much more recently, in January last year, with the winner known to be based in Wales’ Gwent Valleys with a £40,525 holding at the time of the draw.

Another is based in Gloucestershire and had the maximum £50,000 holding at the time their £100,000 prize was drawn in February 2022.

Two more of the top prize winners are known to be based in the UK, with a further two based either overseas or their postcode just isn’t known.

Roughly 14% if unclaimed prizes were won by people living overseas.

Of the smaller winnings, there are 18 unclaimed £25,000 prizes, 50 unclaimed £10,000 prizes and 107 unclaimed £5,000 prizes.

How to check if you’ve won a Premium Bonds prize?

You will have been notified by National Savings and Investments (NS&I) if you won a prize, so it’s worth checking old emails, texts and letters.

If there’s no trace of a missed message, you can log in to the NS&I website, or use their Premium Bonds prize checker tool.
