Sherbrooke police arrest man for drug trafficking as suspicious death investigation continues

Sherbrooke police on Friday announced they had arrested a 55-year-old man for drug trafficking during the course of their investigation into a suspicious death on Thursday that occurred in a residence in the city’s Rock Forest area.

The investigation began at about 1 p.m. Thursday, after a 911 call was received from a residence on Chemin Saint-Roch Nord.

“An area resident called to say two men were unconscious in his home. Emergency services went to the scene … to provide aid to the two victims. They were then taken to hospital,” said Sherbrooke police spokesperson Benoit Pellerin.

One of the men, aged 54, died, while the other, aged 51, remained in critical condition in hospital on Friday.

In the hours that followed, the residence was searched by police and drugs were seized, at which point the suspect was arrested.

The man who remains in hospital exhibited no signs of violent injury and does not possess a criminal record, police said.

Their investigation was continuing on Friday afternoon.
