US TV host Sally Jessy Raphael has complained that Instagram won’t verify her account ‘no matter what proof I send them.’

The 89-year-old, who is best known for her self-titled talk show which aired until 2022, begged her followers for help to fix the social media site’s error.

Airing her grievances about Instagram, Sally also said there was a fake account purporting to be her under the handle ‘realsallyjr’, adding to her frustration of not getting a blue tick.

She wrote: ‘So, @Instagram doesn’t seem to want to give me my blue check – no matter what proof I send them! 😡🤯 AND there’s a fake account called “realsallyjr” and that’s NOT ME!

‘Help me let instagram know, so we can fix this!’

Sally’s followers pledged to help her, with @gambaschnappa writing: ‘@instagram The Icon, the Legend of daytime TV, Ms. Sally Jessy Raphael needs her Blue Check Mark 💙 Hello!!!!!’

@wowmikeywow said they had reported the fake account.

@i_am_katie_free also added: ‘That’s pretty crazy that someone as famous as you are is having trouble with being recognized. I’m trying to understand what the issue is though 🤷🏻‍♀️ Is it because you have a low amount of followers on this platform? Keep, sharing the link to your IG on Facebook and hopefully Meta catches on! 🤞 Loved watching you growing up & Still do.’

Sally is active on Instagram, and often shares throwback pictures of her TV career, her take on cultural events such as the Olympics, as well as her travels.

Last month, Sally published pictures of herself in London, including outside Theatre Royal Haymarket before watching Dominic West in A View From The Bridge.

During her holiday in London, Sally also visited the Yoko Ono exhibition at the Tate Modern and The Sherlock Holmes Museum, which she said had been on her ‘bucket list.’

Sally began hosting The Sally Jessy Raphael Show, later retitled Sally, in 1983.

It was one of the first issue-driven talk shows to have a live audience and a female host, predating The Oprah Winfrey Show by three years.

The show won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series in 1990 but was cancelled 13 years later due to poor ratings.

Prior to becoming a TV presenter, Sally was a news correspondent, covering Central America for the Associated Press and United Press International.

She then worked at various radio stations in the US before landing a call-in advice show.
