Giants’ Daniel Jones puts together best day of training camp yet

Observations from the Giants’ training camp practice on Thursday.

What a dive!

Alex Johnson, an undrafted rookie cornerback from UCLA, is lining up at safety in this camp.

He flashed with two splash plays, coming up with diving interceptions off deflected passes thrown by Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito.

Scratch pads

We get it, the team cannot be in full pads every day.

The players were in shells Thursday, thus there was a sharp downturn in how physical the 11-on-11 periods could be.

This makes sense, of course, but after full pads, this was not as satisfying.

The pads go back on Friday.

Caught my eye

After a sluggish practice Tuesday, Daniel Jones on a hot day put together his best action so far this summer — highlighted by deep completions for touchdowns to Malik Nabers and Jalin Hyatt, a nice toss to rookie TE Theo Johnson and several on-target shorter throws.
